Mica Cable Tapes

Firox

FIROX product line

Under the registered trade mark FIROXTM, COGEBI manufactures a range of tapes based on muscovite and phlogopite mica paper reinforced by glass cloth. These tapes have great flexibility and high tensile strength and their combined characteristics mean they can be used to create inorganic fire resistant insulation for electrical cable.

FIROX™ tapes can be applied on conductors using all standard vertical or longitudinal taping equipment. The way in which a cable is constructed depends on the specific requirements imposed upon the cable. FIROXTM tapes can be applied in one or more layers, usually with a 20-50% overlap.

Thanks to its ongoing adaptation to the market requirements, COGEBI offers a wide range of pads and spools compatible with commercially available taping machines.

FIROX M: A dry and flexible mica glass backed cable tape made of calcinated muscovite mica paper bonded to an electrical grade glass cloth as a supporting fabric, impregnated with a specially selected high temperature resistant silicon resin.

FIROX P: Glass backed cable tape consists of the most heat resistant phlogopite mica paper bonded to an electrical grade glass cloth as a supporting fabric, impregnated with a specially selected high temperature resistant silicon resin.

FIROX HS: Glass backed cable tape consists of the most heat resistant phlogopite mica paper bonded to a unique glass cloth backing which enables conductor taping at higher speeds. FIROXTM HS is impregnated with a special selected high temperature resistant silicon resin.

FIROX MedVoltage: Special cable tape made of the most heat resistant phlogopite mica paper with the high quantity of mica, bonded to an electrical grade glass cloth, impregnated with a specially selected high temperature resistant silicon resin. This type of insulation is used specially in case of medium voltage fire-resistant cable production.
